Eric Borgogelli

Eric Borgogelli’s work unravels personal anxieties surrounding queerness, desire, and failure. Using soft and hard materials such as flexible foam, fabric, wood, and concrete, he evokes the desire to touch by actively employing strategies of softening surfaces. Often inspired by abstractions of bodily forms and plant life, he works to reject notions of immediate recognizability. Through a process of exploration and play, he works to subvert conventional functionality and linear narratives between his materials and objects; questioning the roles of touch, desire, and failure as it relates to his queer experience, body, and recent cancer diagnosis.
