My artwork accesses the visceral, attempts to negotiate and nail down the moving parts of the female experience. College trained as a dancer/choreographer, I spent years running, leaping, spinning, falling, recovering. Light was—and remains—facile and animate for me. Rhythm is the foundation of everything I create. To explore the sensual, to delve into the unknowable human experience, I feel every art form is open and available. My poetry explores narrative and nuance. My drawings are an extension of my writings. And vice versa. Women’s stories are too often unspoken, some truths are unspeakable. In my works on Braille, a series called Truth be Told, I ask if the language of touch can be repurposed.
